Common Car HVAC Maintenance Needs every car owner should know

The HVAC market is seeing a surge and maybe by the next decade, it will be one of the leading industries. Not only commercial spaces, but even homes and car owners now feel the need for central air and heating systems humming.

However, what people don’t realize is why do they need upgrades and maintenance in this system.  The two primary reasons why people delay these are - time and money, and in the meantime, they ignore the fact that HVAC systems’ maintenance is so very important.  So, if your system has not to be maintained for a long time, it is time to make an HVAC inspection checklist that all homeowners should have.

HVAC Inspection Checklist

Once a default arises in your system, it is going to be there as long as you replace them. In some cases, things can go wrong in unavoidable ways, but, it is better to take precautionary steps once you start noticing any symptoms arising.

Coming back to the HVAC inspection list,  the full form of HVAC is heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. If you ask if there are different types of HVAC inspection available, then the answer is yes. There are three general kinds of  HVAC inspections, but all of them go by different names.

  • HVAC Tune-ups: these follow a multi-point inspection of your air conditioning and heating system. If you want to get a tune-up, then the best season to get one for your heater is fall and for your air conditioner, spring may be the best. A good inspection when paired with maintenance schedules often prevents breakdowns from happening.

  • HVAC Repair: usually when your car’s HVAC system isn’t heating or cooling properly, it is better to diagnose the issues as soon as possible. These repairs are focused on fixing your problems so they aren’t as comprehensive as getting a  tune-up appointment.

  • HVAC Inspection: some of the car inspectors offer comprehensive HVAC inspections without any maintenance. Often, these inspections are offered as a detailed written audit such as the age of the system, how it is performing, any list of improvements you want to make.

Common Car HVAC Maintenance Needs To Take Care Of

The heating and cooling system of your car needs to be strong and quick even on the hottest summer days. Thus, with regular scheduling of maintenance, you can keep your car’s HVAC in working condition. Well, we understand that keeping up with regular checks may not be possible for you every time, but here are some tips that you can follow.

Fan motors

As airflow is one of the things that your car’s HVAC system needs to function properly, you need to take care of the fan motors. Adjust the blower fan speed with the climate control settings. Also, there is one cooling fan right at the front of your car. Heat is then drawn into the cabin and then into the air conditioning system. This heat needs to go out and that’s exactly what the condensers do. When you’re not moving, the cooling fans will keep the flow over the radiator and condenser so that your cabin stays cool.

If your car’s heat or A/C isn’t working properly, it must be the blower fan motor that may have broken down.

Air Filters

A car HVAC system may perform poorly if it's been clogged because the air filters may have accumulated dust or may have a dirty air filter. If such a thing is happening to you too, perhaps your system isn’t receiving proper airflow. Also, your A/C may heat up and not work properly. A clogged air filter heats up real quick and can get choked anytime. So, be sure that you replace them regularly.
